I had a very good question today about what makes a dog a good pet? She has been told by other breeders to look elsewhere for a pet because their dogs were hunters. Every Labrador Breeder can produce a hunter or a pet – at least in my opinion. Dogs are not necessarily born hunters. I have had my pups go to families of both types and they have turned out just as their family had trained them to be. So what makes a good pet? You do. If you want a pet, train your pup to be the best pet ever. If you want a hunter, then go that route. And just so you know, I even have a pup who was trained to be a service dog and her family just loves her a ton.
